Solution

Opposable collaborated with Interactive Scientific to create an interactive multi-user experience designed to be used within At-Bristol's planetarium. This project was titled Splat Bristol. Splat Bristol is the first game designed for At Bristol’s planetarium - a unique experience in which the audience use two screens to play the game: their device screen and the 12m, 360˚ screen dome of the Planetarium.

Users team up and collaborate with other audience members to splat their way through key buildings and areas in Bristol. After downloading a mobile phone application that was created by Opposable, players tap their touch screen to launch a splat on the globe-style representation of Bristol. This ‘splat’ is then instantly reproduced on the giant planetarium screen.

Result

The game was used in the planetarium during Bristol Green Capital week, attracting a large number of visitors during its exhibition time. The project was installed once again in May of 2016 as part of BBC’s Digital Bristol Week. Following this, and the positive reactions stemming from it, plans are now in motion to make Splat Bristol a permanent exhibit as part of At Bristol.
